The Rocky S2V Coyote Brown Tactical Boots; The Best Boots Available For Wear With The Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) Uniform.
Most tactical boots are designed for performance in difficult, rugged terrain. Boot manufacturers know that tactical boots need to endure rocky, uneven terrain as well as the shock and twisting movements that come from high-speed maneuvers.
Rocky has taken environmental specifics to the next level, with the Coyote Brown S2V Boot. This boot is designed for harsh, rugged environments and the technology used makes the boot extremely effective and comfortable in a wide variety of situations.
Rocky is getting out ahead of the pack with the S2V Tactical boot. In addition to its specific performance function. This boot is also one of the first Authorized Army Boots for the Army OCP uniform.
The boots are AR 670-1 compliant and meet ICWB standards for intermediate cold-weather boots. The boots are also Berry Compliant and are simply ready to be put to use.
You won’t need to worry about near-term changes as Rocky has accounted for them. It’s a boot ready to be used now and in the future.
Key features of the Coyote Brown Rocky S2V Gore-Tex waterproof tactical military boot:
- Wet conditions are minimized by the water resistant coyote brown leather
- The boots use super-fabric insteps and flash-resistant materials to protect against rope burns and quick flashes
- The S2V boots feature 3M Thinsulate to provide extreme insulation and keep your feet warm in the coldest conditions
- Although your feet are kept very warm, the boot utilizes Dri-Lex lining with Aegis Microbe Shield for good ventilation so your feet don’t get sweaty
- The boots also get good ventilation from the Air-Port cushioned footbed. As the foot transitions through each step, the footbed circulates air throughout
- The S2V Tactical boot gives great stability through a non-metallic shank and the Vibram soles
Design & Technology
One of the most notable aspects of the Rocky S2V Tactical boot is how it performs in cold, wet conditions. You would expect to experience the typical effects of getting your boots wet and cold. Ultimately you can feel it after a while. My feet certainly get wet and can feel the cold. With the S2V boots, however, the effect is very minimal. Your feet will know they’re in a colder, wetter environment, but the effects are almost non-existent. My feet stay very dry and pretty warm as well.
The stability the boot offers is also excellent and when taken into account alongside the wet weather performance, the total performance is a winner. The S2Vboots stabilize my lower leg. The shank offers good support and the VIBRAM sole feels sturdy and almost cups my foot. The result is great performance especially in wet conditions that typically slow most Soldiers down.
The boot is also downright tough. The upper is made of leather and nylon and is triple stitched. You can feel how durable and tough the boot is. It still offers good flexibility, but not much is going to penetrate the boot. The leather is also flash and water resistant, so it’s specifically designed to stand up to harsh elements and protect your feet.
The VIBRAM outsoles also play a role here as they are high-walled and protect the insides and outsides of the feet from punctures or rope burns. Finally, the polyurethane footbed is structured so that it will never cave under pressure or lose shape. Ultimately it’s a boot built to last, and the fact it’s ready for the OCP uniform is a bonus.
Once again, cold, wet weather performance is the key with the Rocky S2V Gore-Tex boots; only this time it’s from a comfort perspective. The boots truly are waterproof so your feet will not get damp or soggy regardless of the conditions you’re in. The warmth the boots give my feet is also very noticeable. I was a little worried about this at first. I didn’t want my feet getting sweaty, especially if I was going to be in the boots for long periods of time. The beauty is that my feet stay warm in very cold conditions, but get the right amount of ventilation in neutral or even warm conditions. They are comfortable boots in any condition.

Another excellent comfort feature is how good they feel when training in those cold, wet conditions. This goes beyond just keeping my feet warm and dry. The support and stability they give keep my mind off the external conditions when I’m training. Cold and wet environments are never easy to deal with, but the S2V’s stability makes performing in these conditions very easy. The reality of it is that I’m fully focused on the task and nothing from the environment (or at least how it effects my feet) gets in my way.

The big question then becomes, are the boots truly worth it? I can’t answer that because it’s different for all of us. I can say that if you know, you will need the benefits these boots offer, then the price is definitely in line.
They are excellent performers and do give unmatched comfort in those wet, cold and uncomfortable conditions.
Overall, I’m impressed with what Rocky has done with the S2V. The design and implementation are intelligent and deliberate. They not only took into account specific environmental conditions but also looked forward at the new OCP uniform and designed around that as well. If the environment you train in is cold and wet, the price is worth paying.
The Coyote Brown S2V Tactical boot is a strong performer.
